Santorum neutral on 1st District race
Former Pennsylvania senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum won’t be making an endorsement in the Republican race for the 1st Congressional District seat.
Speaking to Republicans in Mount Pleasant, Santorum said he has some “really good friends” in the race from his run in the S.C. presidential primary, but will stay on the sidelines.
“I wish them all the best,” he said of the 16-person field.
Santorum did say that seeking the White House again in 2016 remains viable. “It’s certainly a possibility,” he said.
Santorum spoke at the East Cooper GOP lunch gathering, re-stating his criticisms of President Barack Obama and the administration.
“He is hell-bent on transforming the country,” Santorum said of the president in the election aftermath.
